1) Preparation of MEKO-end-capped PU prepolymer solution
Formulation:
Parts(w/w) | ||
a. | α,α,α',α'-Tetramethyl Xylylene Diisocyanate | 259 |
b. | Carbitol Acetate | 400 |
c. | Trimethylolpropane | 28 |
d. | Polybutanol | 212 |
e. | Dibutyltin Dilaurate | 0.1 |
f. | MEKO | 101 |
Add ingredients a,b, c,d and e into a reactor fitted with a stirrer, heater, thermometer and gas inlet. Heat to 80~100 while stirring under nitrogen and keep for 3hr to allow max. PU prepolymer yield, that is NCO% reaches 8.9%. Add MEKO (ingredient f) into the solution and react at 60~80 for 3hr until NCO peaks disappear by IR detection. Thus MEKO end-capped PU prepolymer solution, with 60% of solid content, is obtained.
2) Preparation of the coating
Formulation:
g. | MEKO end-capped PU prepolymer solution | 100 |
h. | Carbon Black | 1 |
i. | Titanium Dioxide | 5 |
j. | Calcium Carbonate | 80 |
k. | Aromatic Naphtha (bp. 100~200) | 30 |
Place the above ingredients in a mixer, and mix thoroughly to achieve a uniform suspension.
Characteristics and Use:
1. High adhesion, impact resistance and storage stability.
2. Suitable for galvanized steel surface, automotive, etc.
3. Recommended to apply by air spray; bake at 120 for 15min; film thickness 20μm. It can also be applied by brush, roller, blade and E-coating.
